This is probably one of the most popular beaches in the area. It’s a perfect example of a Caribbean beach with its clean, clear turquoise water and soft, sandy beach. It is the centerpiece of the Rainbow Bay Subdivision. The water is almost always calm and warm. Stop by this beach to swim, snorkel and just relax in the gently lapping waves of this Caribbean side beach.
Perched on the side of a hill overlooking a small bay, Gregory Town is a typical Eleuthera settlement. Here, along with friendly people always happy to chat, or point you in the right direction, you’ll find gift shops, restaurants, grocery stores, gas station, a laundromat (you can do your own laundry or have it done for you) and a bakery. Come down to the town dock at about 4:00pm and you’ll be able to purchase seafood directly from the fishermen, almost every day.
If this is not the most famous beach on Eleuthera, it is most likely the second most famous. However, that doesn’t mean it’s the easiest beach to find. The surf is best when the wind is blowing from the Caribbean side. Be sure to bring your camera as the surf breaking along the miles of beach makes for spectacular photographs. Look for a couple of makeshift shaded seats with magnificent views and several well worn trails down the dunes to the beach.
